siderbar vertical scaling problem

Featured Replies

Hello everyone. I wonder if someone might be able to help me with my vertical scaling problem...

I have a sidebar that doesn't start at the top but I want it to stretch down to the bottom. I have tried adding height:100% to the sidebar div and all its parent divs but it still won't stretch down to the footer along with the content alongside it.

you can see an example of the problem here:

and the CSS is here:

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

thanks

i was trying to avoid faux columns as it would mean me having to include a huuuuge background image. i suppose i will have to have a think about my design....

There isn't really any other (reliable) way of doing it that I know of. The sidebar background for your site only need to be something like 10px tall (and however wide it needs to be) - it would just repeat to however high the page is - the result is a very small image file size.

See the attachment. You need to do something for the top portion where the background colour fill changes...
