June 9, 200818 yr Everyone seems to hate frontpage, whilst Macromedia dreamweaver seems to be the most popular choice out there. Anyone tried any other options?
June 9, 200818 yr Don't use WYSIWYG, try and get into editing your code directly so you know what's ticking under the bonnet. I'm pretty new to this game myself, but HTML/CSS - while occasionally confusing (most often because of bad organisation on my own part) is not rocket science. It's worth the relatively small time investment to become literate (if not expert) in these languages. With that in mind, I've used Notepad++, though recently I switched to PSPad

June 9, 200818 yr It's a very expensive option if you're learning - a bit like buying a Jaguar car just to learn to drive in! If you can afford to splash out £340 (Amazon.co.uk price) for it then go ahead, otherwise there are many more free or more affordable editors available. Dreamweaver is not bad at what it does, sure it's "standard kit" for many corporate environments but that's really down to marketing rather than it being the "best" IMHO. At the end of the day it's an expensive toy if you don't really know what you're doing with it, or using it to it's fullest potential.
June 20, 200818 yr Thanks for your input sunwukung. Do you think dreamweaver is a waste of money? Yes. Not only that, It actually writes stinking code. I have no idea how they can get away with charging £340 for it. It's insanity.
June 22, 200818 yr I use Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I hand-code via Dreamweaver though (which I could do with Notepad+ etc), so it's not like I *need* to use Dreamweaver.
