Helvetica Neue font for the web?

Featured Replies

Hi, a client has asked me he would like the Helvetica Neue font, but i can't seem to find clear information on the licence? if i can use it online and if it is free? or do i have to pay for it? not had much experience with online fonts.

Just need to know if i can buy it or do i have to rent it online and from where?

thanks

I use Helvetica Neue for non web work a lot of the time but not the other way around. I don't think there are many libraries that serve it, but you can purchase it here http://www.fonts.com/font/linotype/neue-helvetica or through Linotype themselves as they all come with licences. You can double check whether it can be used on the web and using something like Font Squirrel to generate @font-face styles if necessary.

yeah i had a look and fonts.com too, he wants to use it for the whole site, this is the third font we are going through lol.

Well, it's a good enough font. I don't think you're going to have much luck other than getting the licence through fonts.com or similar. There are free alternatives if the client is willing to budge ;)

Is the guy you are working with a designer?

The reason I ask is could you try Helvetica and see if he notices the difference between that at Helvetica Neue?

What other typefaces have you tried?

I always use Arial and Verdana it's best fonts for content in website in my opinion.

only if you have no budget or don't want free fonts :)
