I have a web site which I am trying to fix some code for.

 

The border of the web site page is broken;

I am just trying to figure out the reason for this as I am new to web design.

Hi Welcome to the forum.

You need to clear the floated <li> elements. If you assign to your div news_cont-bottom CSS property clear:both, that fixes your site.

Thanks for your helpful email. This fixed the problem in Safari but it did not work for the Chrome web browser. Still it's a good start!

You may need to clear cache and cookies in Chrome, because it seems to work for me, here is a screenshot taken in Chrome.
