Im currently writing up a blog article on the above subject and would love to hear all the graphic designers views on being undervalued for the effort time invested into clients..

I'm no graphic designer but most people feel "undervalued" at some point, whatever profession they choose to follow.

 

As with all specialist trades you can never expect clients to understand how much effort goes into producing something.

 

It depends what you mean "undervalued", there are many things that can have an effect...

 

1. Not paid enough (even though you get paid an appropriate rate in your sector)

2. Difficult clients

3. Not being acknowldeged for your hard work

4. Low job satisfaction

5. External pressures (eg domestic problems)

6. Low morale (personally or at workplace)

7. Not dealing with stress

Hello Friends,

I strongly feel that the 2 elements, namely the expertise and the inclination to learn more, surely have the powerful impact on your work. Switch over to latest graphic software and pick up new skills and concepts. Leave aside the issues of stress, underpaid or undervalued.They are companies that are specifically into the business of graphic design and are run and managed by considerate employers who acknowledge quality and efforts put in that direction and where the potent talent for graphics can reach the new heights.Especially in case of India, there exist several IT companies which have been leaving the mark.

 

Hence, in a nutshell, if you have the right inclination to innovative technology and work, heavens can be shaken up.

How come all people in a field can be undervalued? (if you mean underpaid). It is just how the market works. If there are too many of them, people pay less, if there are fewer, people will have to pay more.

Friends, I opine that it is NOT just the quantity or the heavy influx of designers into the market that is taking remuneration and emoluments down. But it is the quality and efficiency and an innovative creativity (to a great extent) that occupies the central stage. We subsist in a global world today and hence our work and expertise is not hidden from any one else and also there is no dearth of attentive and solicitous employers in this global village. So, if you produce quality and have huge appetite for new challenges, then indeed YOU CAN !!!

If there has been an amalgamation of diligence, innovation and efficient consistency in work in regard to present day market demands. Then surely, our market will be flooded with plenty of work and assignments. Take the case of mine, as I have been the content writer and posted some blogs on some topics and within 4 months, I received plenty of work from several businesses asking me to carry out guest blogging for them....Life is Awesome !!!
