June 1, 200818 yr Hi Guys, I'm intrigued to see what Windows Vista is like, so here is my question... Am I able to install Vista on a 250GB partition on one of my 500GB harddrives without formatting anything? I don't fancy losing 3TB of stuff... Thanks.

June 3, 200818 yr I would backup your data first before doing anything. I think it really boils down to how skilled you are with a PC. Also why in God's name would you want to try Vista. What are you running now. If you on XP stay there. Vista is buggy as all hell. Take it from me you're better with XP. I'm using Vista and it's a barrel of laughs (though it does have some good points but none worth mentioning and that are relevant to Web Design). Cheers Mate. -Seth
June 3, 200818 yr Yes you can - but you should back up your data before attempting this. I assume you're using XP? You must be a glutton for punishment if you want to add Vista to your misery, but that's just my opinion (only teasing) If you get hold of an install disk for a linux distribution - I recommend Ubuntu - and boot the disk as though you were going to install the OS, there is a partition manager option during setup. I think it's called Gparted. It allows you to shrink a partition without erasing the data. Be warned - if you are on windows you will need to run a defragmenter etc on the drive first to bring all the data together or else you may end up losing it! I have only heard one person express a preference for Vista over XP for what it's worth. Anywho, since you have the Ubuntu disk in your drive already, and you have found yourself running the installer, you may as well just go ahead and install Ubuntu instead
