June 14, 201313 yr Hi there I want to make a main title of a commerce web page. The thing is, I dont know if they just use webfonts for these or they use photoshop elements to make this part. For example, the "Amazon" word in the main heading of the amazon.com, or in fact any major website has a main header/logo, which tents to be clickable and returns you to the home page. Does anyone know, I know they used to do it with graphics, but what do most people do today now that webfonts are out? I think it has an impact on SEO, and this is why I'm debating which way in my mind I should go. What is the norm? Photoshop graphic, or html, or some kind of webfont thingy? I have the font I want to use, just not sure if I should just take this element fro photoshop and make it graphic item in the page or make it html header. Dave.

June 14, 201313 yr It's allways going to depend on the logo design... If your logo is just text, then I would defiantly go down the web-fonts route. A simple logo with a simple graphic & text, I would use the graphic and text. Complicated logo, just go straight with image. I'm not sure on SEO effects. However, I would assume the web-fonts would have a better impact in SEO. In terms of the best way to do fonts, what do you mean? I don't quite understand...

As for SEO text is always better than an image, but don't let that stop you using an image as it's still all about what looks great to the user.
June 14, 201313 yr If you do use an image you can always use an image replacement technique http://css-tricks.com/css-image-replacement/ and keep any SEO benefits. You can even create a single coloured logo and serve it as a font using icomoon: http://icomoon.io/app/. As said it depends on the logo. One thing to keep in mind is that retina screens will take a lot of the sharpness away from your logo image.
