Holding back on a rant, but don't you just 'love it' when a client asks you "are you happy with the site?" and "did it meet your expectations?". Constructive as one can be, it's hard not to read between the lines with certain characters we come across. It's playing on my mind like a repeat of Taylor Swift record. Grrrrrr....

Indeed we should, Teodora! I'm a pretty positive person, but I'm reasonably good at sussing people out and I think you hit the nail on the head. My initial thought process was "was it good enough?" but as I've had glowing feedback from the people that matter, I suppose that should be enough. In theory!

Let's have it then! :) I find most of the clients just need a proper explanation and the reasons behind your design decisions, but what I find frustrating is when I explain everything in a great details and they don't even bother to read it lol

If you have had a great feedback, that is fantastic :)

I find this website a great source of info on the matter http://weenudge.com/

Oh - I am so in love with that link - thanks a lot (I think I might learn something new!)

You took the letters right off my fingertips (doesn't work like 'words out of my mouth'!). I like to conduct as much info via email, that way it protects both parties in the long run - promises, etc.. Also, it allows you to take your time and put everything in writing. The joy of emails is you can be very thorough yet keep things a little informal/friendly at times - including things you may have missed in conversation, or may have taken a long time to explain in person.

I've lost count of the amount of unanswered emails I have sent, giving minute details to help the client in every way. You try explaining over the phone but they don't get it. Sure, you're being paid for your expertise and not everyone appreciates design or the jargon, but there has to be some sort of common ground. I'm going to go over this site with a fine tooth comb and get my 'ctrl-c' 'ctrl-v' at the ready ;)

Grrrr.....

Ha ha exactly.

It is a good site, but surely they should have a section against the use of animated gifs as a logo :D

The fold and the white space being second on the list.

Or the ones that are not clear at all, "It looks pretty much very angular to me", etc.

....

I'm always fond of the flaming text and including .wav files for everytime someone clicks a link (something like a toilet flushing because that's "funny" ;) Geocities taught me that. How I wish I could pass on that knowledge from the greats... The internet has changed a lot. Shame the clients haven't ;)

Oh, yes, love it :D Always recommend noises on click to clients.
