i post gameplay video on youtube now and again, and i just thought that i would make myself a website and have two places to have my videos, also i can have screenshots on there aswell, i might even open it to people to send their videos and screenshots but 1 step at a time

Ok cool, well this is why we plan before we design and build...but you already know that! haha. I do it myself all the time.

You need a footer (but hard to know how to do it, until you know what content you are having in it) and what are your plans for that right side blank space?

I was thinking of having it for screenshots things like that or maybe a few of my new videos or any new game trailers, but i just dont want to overload it with images thats my main worry.

the footer ill just deal with when i get to it, ill probably just put in another nav bar basically, nothing to fancy.

its suprising you know if you ask someone for their opinion, the ideas then come flooding in............isnt it weird.......lol

You have two columns, perhaps try putting meta information (about, sys reqs, etc) In the right column. Have a "blog" stream in the left. You could post your videos, screenshots, write ups, etc. here, say, up to 10?

As far as designing around that, think about what's important (the content stream) and instead of having two equal columns your content stream should take higher priority and so maybe make that 2/3rds the width and 1/3rd for the meta info column, this will create visual weight on the left side - creating a visual heirachy.

Hope that makes sense, I'm hungover :(

Kudos for switching the body font :)

Content > Markup > Style/Design/Layout is the correct order to do things. It can be really difficult to design when you have no content because design is generally meaningless without the content.

Think about what you actually want this website to give to the person viewing it; what content you want to deliver.

Do you want to form a community/social aspect? If so, they need something to do that is enjoyable and has feedback, e.g. you could have a Picture/Video of the Week on the homepage.

Is it simply a place for people to catch up on your videos? Then they should be centre stage.

Even if you're just making a template it's important to consider what sort of content you're displaying and the best way to do that.

I quite like your design through. It definitely fits the theme, but it's very generic.
