September 14, 201214 yr Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has experience with Concrete5? Once of my computer science degree modules is a CMS based one. Basically we have to investigate different CMS's and build a site using one. I had a good look at it and Concrete5 looks the business. The tutor has basically said that higher marks will be given for using one that he didn't expect, something else apart from Wordpress, or Joomla which he sees all the time. I also see in this months .NET magazine that they have a pretty straight forward tutorial on it which I have begun. Based on what Ive said about the module, any other one's that aren't the norm that would be worth investigating? I'll obviously be looking into it myself, just wanted to hear other like minded peoples views on it. Any comments much appreciated. Stevo!
September 14, 201214 yr Have a look on opensourcecms.com Loads of alternatives on there and you can try out via the demos too.
September 25, 201214 yr I love the look of concrete 5 and I think it has the best admin interface for non technical people. The only problem I had was a lack of up to date or even correct articles on how to create a custom theme.
September 25, 201214 yr Try ProcessWire, it's not very known yet, but it's an extremely powerful and easy to learn CMS. As a bonus, the forum is very friendly and helpful. Your teacher will love it ps: It may seem that I'm making lots of publicity to ProcessWire since I arrive to this forum... and it's true, I am. It's my favorite CMS without any doubt, and since it's not as known as others, I feel that it's my obligation, as a happy user, to spread it a bit. Edited September 25, 201214 yr by ocorreiododiogo
September 26, 201214 yr +1 for process wire, just checked it out and it seems fairly simple to use actually. Imo, its actually simpler to get started than Wordpress. For creating a near static site with basic CMS functionality, I would probably use this.
