Re installed vista

Featured Replies

Hi, got a problem, I have made a website and it works fine on other peoples pc's, (and it did on mine until I reistalled vista).

Since I have put vista back on I can't view the site proplerly. Were I have used layers in gif formats, the pages are showing images instead of what everyone else see's. Its like there is something, in ie missing or a setting not right.

random question time :p

is your graphics card installed correctly?

does it look ok in a different browsers on your PC...eg Firefox?

Have you messed with any settings in IE after the reinstall or have you just left it as is?

That's all I can think of for now :p

Can you do screenshots of the problem? And give a URL for the site?

Have you tried this using a non-MS browser (Firefox, Opera etc) on other PCs? I have a feeling it won't work properly on those either.. you've got a bunch of MS proprietary tags (those ones beginning with 'v:'). Other browsers probably won't support those, or will have very limited support for them. Most browsers follow W3C standards, not MS's.

::edit::

You're also missing a DOCTYPE

Well put firefox on wife laptop and no it didnt work.

So why does it work in ie on the wifes and not ie on mine.

also is it possable to get the same effects taking the ms tags out.

and a stupid question what are doctype's

If it makes you feel better it doesn't work on mine either.

I will have a look through the code tonight when I get home if no one else has...but looking at it now I think its more of a problem with the site itself rather than it being because of a browser.

As for doctypes:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Document_Type_Declaration

read up on them as they are vey important when designing websites :)

Doesn't seem to work on mine either. Could it be a hosting issue?
