July 16, 201214 yr Hi, I have taught myself xhtml, css & javascript. I also understand php to an intermediate level, if you were to put some scripts in front of me. I haven't coded a e-commerce script from scratch yet, without using a tutorial. I would like to specialise in e-commerce development eventually. Would it be easier for me to use an e-commerce platform to further my study now? Such as Magento? Since a lot of you will be self taught, do you think I should buy an magento book to further my understanding of how php is practically used, in e-commerce development? How do you think I should approach the next stage of my study, I am a bit confused about the right direction to take. Please advise. Thanks

Would you describe oscommerce as an easier to use e-commerce platform? Do most web developers use an e-commerce platform, to develop a site? Is it quite rare for a developer to code from scratch on an e-commerce project? Sorry if my questions sound simple, this is quite new to me. Thanks again
