Hello all,

 

I'm hoping someone can help with this as I've never done it before. I've setup a web hosting account, and want to point a temporary/development URL at the IP address. So I set up an A record on the domain I want to use and entered the new hosting accounts IP address. (To clarify I used a domain like dev.domain.com). I've waited nearly 48 hours and the dev.domain.com URL still goes to a 404 page. I'm not sure what I've done wrong.

Does the hosting account have a dedicated IP, or is it shared?

 

Thanks for your help. I guess it's shared because I can only access the site through a temporary URL such as ip address/tempname.
