I installed comodo free firewall and was given this "comodo dragon" browser with it. apparently its the most secure browser out there if you believe the hype. looks a little like chrome...

It's based on the chromium project from which Google make the chrome bowser. That's why it looks similar.

I don't trust any website with images of this quality:

 

 

Nor a website offering software which only works on Windows. Bet it comes in the form of a nice, safe .exe file too?

Bit lame? Why wouldn't you trust the exe? The whole point of Dragon is that it's a more secure browser, disabling a lot of the features that make browsers insecure in the first place.

 

I do think it's slightly extreme but if your particularly security conscious I'm sure it's fine. Comodo are a well known established security company. It just isn't going to be a virus or anything dodgy.

I agree that an exe's an odd choice for a product focused on security, a signed .msi would make more sense.

 

Edit: unless the exe's a self-extracting archive containing a signed .msi? CBA to check.

Nope, Mike has spoken, and it's definitely not. It's lame to think otherwise.

Not trusting a website based on an image being a little low quality is lame.

Interesting, I disagree - it looks unprofessional and untrustworthy. But that's my opinion, which is lame.

Of course it doesn't look good, but in the broader scope of their website, it's a relatively minor issue. I would have thought certificates, authentication, colour scheme, copy writing, layout, etc would be more important in conveying trust than one image being slightly low quality.

 

Anyway, back to the issue on hand, I think this is possibly a browser that may be ideal for businesses etc. I can see the additional security features possibly benefitting office environments.

 

But I think maybe it's not for personal use.
