April 30, 201214 yr Hey guys, I haven't been active in a long while and that's mainly because of work. So we all know that CS6 is coming out very soon. Are you excited about it? I personally use Adobe Fireworks and I know the Fireworks team has been quiet about the CS6 features. I wanted to make this post to let you see some of the features that are new and have been updated for Adobe Fireworks CS6. You can view the features here: http://launch.fwpolice.com/ So which features are you looking forward to? Ben if this violates any forum rules, feel free to delete this thread.
May 1, 201214 yr Not so interested in cs6 tbh but through that link I found this awsome piece of win! Definitely gonna be trying that out. Cheers! ~evu.
May 1, 201214 yr So which features are you looking forward to? I'm not sure, to be honest as I'm not so up on CS6. I understand it'll output css3 code for you which sounds quite handy. I did a bit of a d'oh, I'm afraid and bought CS5 on something like the 12th March, I didn't anticipate CS6 coing out so soon. I missed the free "upgrade" grace period by about 2 weeks, but no matter. CS5 contains everything I bought it for and seems pretty stable so far. What I will say is that aside from a couple of extremely minor niggles, I'm so glad I made the switch from PS. I do still use PS but FW is now my web graphics constructer/editor of choice. No need for me to explain why as you know all too well about the perks. So I guess all I'll say is - glad they bought out CS6, hope they don't discontinue it in the future, wish more people would see the light and start using it rather than just defaulting to PS, and glad to meet another FW fan! I met a few "graphic designers" who were insistent that they were going to drop it before CS6, claiming they were going to incorporate it's features into PS, and how wrong they were. Now to me, that would lead to a very confusing, bloated package. Oh and cheers for the link. Nice one. Edit - I thought it was already out? Edited May 1, 201214 yr by Gibson
May 4, 201214 yr Author Not so interested in cs6 tbh but through that link I found this awsome piece of win! Yes Specctr is a really cool addon for Adobe Fireworks. We do get to talk to a lot of people from the Fireworks community and Specctr folks are fun to talk to. For CS6, they are going to be updating their tool. I understand it'll output css3 code for you which sounds quite handy. The CS6 features are amazing. The CSS3 extraction makes workflow much easier. Several members of our team at FWPolice got to beta test CS6 and actually develop some materials for the Common Library and the software completely blew us away. As far as upgrades, I would definitely get in touch with Adobe and try to get that upgrade for free. In CS6 you no longer have the 2gb memory cap on 64-bit. So you will no longer get that "out of memory error." So I guess all I'll say is - glad they bought out CS6, hope they don't discontinue it in the future, wish more people would see the light and start using it rather than just defaulting to PS Even though they didn't get rid of it (if they did it would have raised an uproar), Adobe did cut down the staff size. But the team they do have now, lead by Jacob, is doing wonders with the software. glad to meet another FW fan! There is quite a large Adobe Fireworks community out there. Most people tend to overlook it. If you need any resources, feel free to stop by FWPolice.com. As for the release, it comes out in 3 days! Edited May 4, 201214 yr by Sazzad
May 5, 201214 yr I would definitely get in touch with Adobe and try to get that upgrade for free. In CS6 you no longer have the 2gb memory cap on 64-bit. So you will no longer get that "out of memory error." That's interesting. I might try that. If I'm not succesful, I still think CS5 is brilliant, I'm getting on famously with it. Thanks for the info about the community, I'll have a look at that too. Cheers, man.
May 7, 201214 yr Author CS6 trial launched today and it's wonderful. There are few features I didn't see in the beta so it's great! It's also nice to see some work designed by FWPolice in the common library.
