I am very interested in learning about the true way to create a website using code. I have created about 3 sites using Wordpress themes, code doesnt really come into it this way.

Is this a good way to start the ball rolling ?

To be honest, Pat, you can find more valuable content by trawling the web. If you were to look at Smashing Mag, Tuts+, and Noupe alone on every day, you'd learn more and spend way less.

 

What do you mean the 'true' way? HTML & CSS? Check out www.w3schools.com. I learned a whole lot from that site when I needed a refresh a few years back; it's invaluable. The rest is just your creative imagination and how you use the tools you have at your disposal.

 

What do you REALLY want to know how to do?

I thought about going for that deal, until I discovered this forum, it's amazing, just look around and practice, that's what I'm doing!

Everybody is different when it comes to learning. Some people are great at trawling the web and finding information themselves, while others prefer to have someone to discuss information with and have it explained in a way that makes sense to them.

 

Personally, I am one of those people who can pick up a book or read a load of blog posts and figure it all out myself. As a trainer, I know this first hand as I've worked with people at all levels - from beginners getting into the web industry to experienced developers who work for big corporates and don't have time to trawl the web and figure it out. It all comes down to personal taste.

 

I've had a couple of people ask me about that GroupOn offer and I'd concur with the two posts already made. A lot of that information can be found "for free" on the web and you can get support from forums such as this one if you have questions.

 

Of course, if you do prefer to do it in a training environment, then I do run a course on what you're looking for (extremely soft sell technique ).

No, extreme soft sell is just linking to your site on your profile and not dropping SEO links to your product in a thread.

Fair enough and i wouldnt do the groupon course because ive learnt here that its not worth it but you charge £495 right? Theyre offering the world for £99 so its gonna be hard to compete.
