Is there an external way of editing a website, for someone who doesnt understand HTML? Say for example, so they can change a food menu, daily if needs be?

If not what would be the best way to go about this?

Look into CMS...it makes pages easier to edit for those who don't understand it.

Yep, a Content Management System (CMS) is the way to go. WordPress is very popular, or browse OpenSourceCMS to "test drive" a whole bunch of different systems.
