PDF link not opening properly

Featured Replies

Hi all, hope you can help me.

I've created a PDF link for a 2 downloadable price lists within a page.

I've set the target to 'blank' and ensured that the PDF files have been uploaded to the web server, but they still won't open properley - heres the page - http://www.beautyboxworcester.co.uk/ourtreatments.html

Wondered if anyone has any ideas or could help please!

Thank you all in advance.

Opening PDFs depends on that particular computer's settings - some will open it in the browser, some will download it.

Setting target="_blank" isn't recommended because it limits you to Transitional doctypes - you should be using Strict, if not HTML5.

TL;DR version: PDFs are not a standard, their display can't be controlled so just link to them normally and let the user decide whether to open them in a new tab or right-click and save.
