March 6, 201214 yr Evening all. Firstly, apologies if my first post is in the wrong section, I think my question is relevant for the CMS section though I'm looking for some advice from a bunch of experienced web developers. Here is my scenario: We have a web site that is created in Joomla, alongside this we use VirtueMart for Event and Merchandise Sales which ties in well with our paypal account. It's not the most user friendly software but it is by far better than what we previously had with regards to the administration end. As well as the website and shop we have a membership database which is supported by AMember Pro with various types of memberships, this feeds into our forums which is supported by IP Board. Our current limitations are that IP Board and AMember Pro are not talking to each other and many new memberships and renewals are not feeding through to the forums. We're now in the process of rebranding our company and have decided to move to a more compatible multifunction CMS which will avoid member disruption and complaints. We first thought that Business Catalyst was going to be the perfect solution but it appears we're unable to migrate the current forum data over to it, so we're looking for alternative options that offer: a) user friendly for members; b ) easy administration for web site updates and shop admin; c) all compatible with each other; d) avoids losing any historic data; e) the ability to do mail shots; f) not prone to malicious attacks; g) have banner ad software; Now, another issue we have is that our previous IT Administrator, which migrated our website/forums over to these various pieces of software has now dropped us in the smelly stuff. He's upped and left us without a word or recommendation on how we can move our rebranding forward. Obviously we currently have subscriptions in place for our software, so we're not necessarily looking for free software. I currently have access to the ACP for IP Board, Joomla and AMember Pro. I do not however, have access to the backend of the website. Our hosts are Titan Internet who support us well. I hope that I've been able to give enough details on our predicament and look forward to some recommendations. Many thanks in advance Kim
March 7, 201214 yr I agree, your problem is relevant to the CMS section - but it's a bit too complex and involved for a bit of free advice off the top of someone's head to cover it. Try posting it here and officially making it someone else's problem by hiring them.
