Font Appearing Bold on All Mac Machines

Featured Replies

Hi All

Hope somebody can help me. My hair is being pulled out.....

Working on a site - thankfully nearly finished. www.lupee.co.uk/banan_joom

One problem we have is the font on the home page text appears in bold when viewing on a mac in Firefox and Safari. It looks odd and I need to get it fixed.

Any ideas? It's driving me nutttttsssss.

Pedro!

Fonts appear bolder on a Mac because when antialiasing OSX respects the vector outline of the font whereas Windows tries to fit the pixel grid. If it's genuinely appearing the same weight as a bold font, it might be that you haven't specified the weight in a font kit? Haven't checked if you're using @font-face, I'm on my phone.

This. Font rendering in OSX is far bolder than Windows, you just have to get used to it.

Also, make sure you've defined a weight and the font isn't using a fallback.

I have specified the font weight at 100 - am only using Arial - so do I need to used fontface?
