My pet project

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

Here is a little project I have been working on in my spare time (lol!) for a while now. http://www.psychom.co.uk

It is a free community site for psychotherapists to find local practice partners within the uk (I am a qualified hypnotherapist, life coach and so on). It started as a "I wonder if I can" and turned into "this is a good idea" so the design outline got a little confused during the transition and I have spent a lot of time rebuilding from the ground up. :bangb: I have done all the work myself so have become a bit snow blind recently as I ramp up for public release and I would be gratefull for some constructive comments and general beta testing. The site is sitting on a CMS system which is built on templates, formats and code output. This being the case the site currently doesn't validate and I am sure 90% of that is for the following reasons:

  1. The site started as HTML/Tables and I changed to XHTML/CSS
  2. There is legacy content in HTML which needs to be changed.
  3. There are legacy formats in HTML which need to be changed
  4. There is legacy code ouputting HTML which need to be changed

My next task is to clean out the legacy content ect and convert it (sounds like fun eh!). As far as I can tell everything works in IE7 and Firefox and as soon as I have cleaned the legacy items I will be addressing anything that doesn't work in IE6 down.

Once registered and logged in there is an error reporting page to log anything you find and I would be grateful if you logged errors there as well as it will be easier for me to collate and make a sensible bug fix program.

So go grab the index page and rip the site apart for me :o

Thanks in advance

Lloyd

P.S. If the content changes while you are looking, I am addressing different versions as we speak. But if you have any good ideas for any of it I am always happy for the help.

I like the design of the site very much, but a bit of re-organising may be in order. Here are a list of things I cam up with.

1.. The links at the top change into a colour that can not be seen when hovered over.

2.. The buttons for the log in look very tacky and are pixalated at the edges

3.. You need to change the colour of your font because it does not go with the orange colour scheme. And the font does not seem to work.

4.. You need to change the padding a bit because the text looks misplaced in some of the boxes.

5.. In one section the paragraph font is black and in other the link is black which is just confusing

6.. Im not to sure about how the header works, it looks a bit out of place.

7.. If u designed this all, my favorate bit is the footer I think is the best bit of the design :p

These are just my views and other members may say other things..

Hey Keywolf

Thanks for the prompt review :D

Good call. I had listed this (what seems like a decade ago) but it seemed to drop off the radar.

Sorry if I am a bit of a pedant here but in what way do you not see the font working other than the colour?

You need to change the padding a bit because the text looks misplaced in some of the boxes.

Are you refering to the news box on the left here?

5.. In one section the paragraph font is black and in other the link is black which is just confusing

Could you specify for me which sections please? (bare in mind I am messing with the content and trying to make it uniform at the moment so I may have addressed the area you were looking at. I think I am going to change the link font attributes anyway as I was unsure of them to start with)

6.. Im not to sure about how the header works, it looks a bit out of place.

In what way do you mean?

Thanks again for looking and helping out.

Kind regards

Lloyd
