Hello Everybody

Featured Replies

Hello everybody,

I've just registered here and already I'm thinking that this place is going to help me out so much in my new venture.

I'm a C# ASP.NET developer, writing web-based applications for Notts Police.

I am trying to start my own web-desing business because I was approached by a colleague at work to say that her sister has started a new business and would like a web site designing.....that was my first gig.

I've managed to get another contract in the bag this week, so things are ticking along nicely. Unfortunately, my week points are not so much the layout of a site (I'm now getting quite good at CSS), but managing to obtain a nice look and feel. Some of the sites I've seen on these boards have already blown me away.

However, I'm a quick learner and hopefully I'll be able to pick up lots of top tips and advice from you guys out there in web designer land.

I need to update my own site (http://www.hjssolutions.com) as well as the web site for my colleagues sister (www.oceansoffun.co.uk) as these are nowhere near the standard I need to reach.

My current project can be seen at http://www.hjssolutions.com/sites/orchard

Thanks for listening.

Hi Lee, welcome to the forum! ^_^

You have some impressive programming skills there — I really want to get into C at some point... :p

Hi Rob,

I was looking at your blog site last night as a matter of fact....very very nice work mate.

I love programming, I really do. The only thing is that I'm so busy at work at the moment, I'm usually up til 2am working on my own stuff after putting in a full day shift. Still, no pain, no gain right?

So long as you enjoy it, that's what really matters! I used to love coming home from my old 9to5 and cracking on with all my personal projects into the small hours of the morning.

Thanks for the comments about my site, it's still a big WIP so expect it to change a lot over the next few weeks — for the better I hope!

Hi Lee. Welcome to the forum! :D

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the forums...i'm trying to get into C# and vb at the moment, so you might have a couple of questions from me in the future too!

On the design side, everyone is very helpful here and I myself have learned a lot since I registered, so you're in the right place!
