Site Up For Review

Your flash and animation skills are to die for! If I can come out of Uni with anything near what you can do, I will be a very happy man. Well done sir!

As for the design of the website, I feel that it's excellent: nicely laid out, good use of contrasting colour, excellent background and texture, and most importantly you have good copy (content).

The website doesn't validate at the moment, which is a big no-no. If you check it out on the W3C Validator you can see what the problems are so you can fix them.

You're using tables at the moment, which I currently see no reason for. You should be using semantically correct HTML and CSS to produce your structure and styling — it will make your website much more accessible, faster to load (slightly), and just generally look more professional if anyone takes a look at your source code.

Also, I feel that you should only have your header graphic loop once — then have it show a summary of what you offer, so no one misses anything. Forever looping animations are really really distracting, especially the entire banner.

Apart from that, good job! ^_^

I agree with Rob, the banner is very fast-moving and distracting.

It makes it very hard to focus on any other part of the website. If you have it loop once only I think that would be better.

The design is really lovely (and in general I hate "black" websites) but you do need to tidy it up, get rid of tables and make it validate :)

Hey,

Overall look of the website is very good, Nice coloring and cool looking logo.

A couple of things i noticed,

- Like Rob said the flash banner gets a bit distracting after a while.

- The website is on a fixed position, so people with low resolution will see a giant black space on the left site of your site. Maybe try and center it with CSS.

- Your menu is pretty far from the content, took me a while to locate it, maybe you can place under the flash header.

Other than that i think your website is top notch. :)

I think your graphics and visuals are excellent, but I have a couple of suggestions:

The site looks like it's aligned to the right on my monitor - I suspect you've used fixed position and you designed it on a widerscreen?

Also, even though your animation at the top is amazing, I question the value of it being the header - I found it wery distracting when trying to look at the site and design as a whole. I would even go as far as to suggest putting the flash content on your portforlio page, or somewhere where the viewer can choose to see it.

At the very least, it should play through once and then stop IMHO.

I think the font size could do with being a couple of px larger in the main content area (my eyes aren't what they used to be since I started staring at this forum all day :) )

Other than that, a very nice site indeed, with excellent graphics & flash - well done.

Very snazzy design indeed - can't really give you any advice on graphic design it'd be like telling Michelangelo 'hey that staue of David - his left eyebrow's a bit wonky'!

As ever, all I can do is hopefully remind you talented designers not to overlook your text!

On the homepage:

ORIGINAL:

'parts of site are still under construction so some sections are still looking abit brief... showcase projects are starting to get online'

SUGGESTED EDIT (minimal):

'parts of the site are still under construction so some sections are still looking a bit brief... showcase projects are starting to get online'

POSSIBLE EDIT:

'Showcase projects are constantly being added to the site so please check back to see the sections fill with polshedpixel designs.'

On Services:

ORIGINAL:

'all projects below have been live jobs that have been commissioned to create'

SUGGESTED EDIT:

'The projects below showcase commissions by polishedpixel'

The design is very nice - but, to be honest, there is some very unwieldy text. If you'd like I could take a proper look (when I can ;) ) if you'd like?

thanks all for the feedback it is all worth hearing! things i need to sort shortly is remove all the tables in place for some nicely done CSS an get the validation sorted. In terms of the flash banner - it seems a popular choice for me to remove the looping and just place through once so i think this is something i need to look at also.

wizely - i am aware there well maybe be issues with the text on the site, writing copy text is not really my strong point :) so thanks for the input i may well send the site over to you shortly for a text tidy-up.

"tout le plaisir est pour moi"

That's a slightly sarcastic 'ooh the pleasure's all mine' in French (maybe anyway - I can't speak French... sure I did live there until March just gone - but I've lived lots of places and can't be expected to keep up. I can't say lots of things in lots of languages I can't speak after all, mutter, mutter, mutter....)

Sorry kind of drifted off there. Meant to say sure wing it over - I'll do my best to give it a proper look over!
