September 13, 201114 yr Hey, So i am thinking of setting up a travel agency online and is wondering whether we should use software like Wordpress, Joomla etc? or is it best if we develop it from scratch. For now we just want the layout and content, but we do want it flexible so we can add a booking system later on. Which do you guys recommend? Are there plugins out for wordpress and others that allow for bookings? calenders etc?
September 13, 201114 yr Yup, plenty of plugins. I'd always recommend going for a CMS-based approach, as it makes it much easier to tweak content and add new content as needed. I'm a web designer/developer and I use a CMS because it's more convenient, where does that leave everyone else? Edited September 13, 201114 yr by Renaissance-Design
September 17, 201114 yr I can't remember exact addresses but there are some places that compare CMS systems. Look a few of them up and see if they have the features you need. You're going to have a learning curve, but it will pay itself back later. Renaissance Design is absolutely right, it is really the way to go.
September 18, 201114 yr there are three major players. wordpress, joomla and drupal. I went for joomla in the end. thousands of plugins for all of them.
