Word 2003 Forms Issue

Featured Replies

Hi i hope someone might be able to help me out here as this is doing my head in....

Brief....

Design a form in Word 2003 which can be filled out via a member of staff and emailed out directly to customers as a booking confirmation form from word.

Right so far i have done the following...

Created the word doc and created the form and added the form fields and created the sums and maths etc in the form on doc file which all work great. I have locked the file so only the field can be edited using the padlock in the forms tool bar.

I have also changed the file promissions and protected the file with password protect from the tool > protect file option and change the protection so only forms can be filled in. This is file from the staff to fill in etc.

The staff then need to be able to press send the file as attachment button and the file is attached to the email.

This works fine.... problem we have is that the file sent is able to be edited by the customer that the doc is sent to.

I have also looked at the file security settings in tools > options > security and making the document read only and password protecting the file, this also doesn't lock the file and when you press read only the form sections can also be edited. This is no good as a booking confirmation letter.

Anyone have anyother ideas??

I also looked into converting the document into PDF via acrobat ie file > send to > mail and PDF attachment but his requires etc file to be saved each time, meaning within a week the company could have hundreds of files saved which is a pain.

Any ideas?

does the client need it on Word format or would an e:mail do?

if a form could be created as a email template this wopuld be fine.... but the client only uses windows live mail

or is there a way i can convert this to an editable PDF where they can fill in the form fields and the sums still work and this can then be emailed directly from the PDF?
