Pete's Got Another Idea!

Featured Replies

Hey all, Ive just been thinking about websites such as, DiggIT Reddit etc is there one out there for 'digging a design' because my domain captured pixel .com has lead me to think that people can 'Capture a design' on someones website (I dont mean litteraly caputre an image or anything)

What do you guys think??

Ok above these posts are buttons, Digg, Furl, Reddit etc

If there was another one up there [CapturedPixel] visitors who like the design of this page will [CaptureIt] and it will appear on the CapturedPixel website in a similar fashion. Is that better?

Hmm... I think that's an interesting idea, but how would you put it into practice?

What would stop people submitting sites based on content rather than design?

Shouldn't a site's content be more important than how it looks?

Would you have thumbnails of sites aesthetics, or just a plain text link?

Definatly include a thumbnail that enlarges on rollover, I DO understand what your point is about a content approach however it has been done, this one I think is more unique in a way.

Isn't this just the same as web design galleries? I'm finding it hard to see the difference here.

Thats why im asking to see if there is anything similar out there.

I have to agree with Rob, its quite an overused concept and there are so many out there already.

This isn't a dig at your idea by the way, just wanted to point out that it's already been done :)

I don't know, obviously Rob, Dizi you have seen a lot of these sites, but to be honest I haven't yet seen one which I felt worked in a useful way. And there doesn't seem to be one *best* one.

If you wanted to do it in Digg/Stumble upon style where you submit it and users vote it to get it to the top etc, I think there is potential there. Especially because then you end up with your own user page with all the designs that you have voted for as a kind of collection of your favourite websites for inspiration.

It depends, it might be "just another web gallery" but it could end up being a leader in it's field depending on how its done? Depends how much time/effort you have to do it properly.

Thanks for a Great post, You really put the inspiration back into this idea, You pulled out exactly what I was trying to get at, yes there will be a voting system and its a place for yet more website designers/developers to share interests, everything will be categorised and will provide inspiration......

I think it has potential, but it would have to be done right!

Would need a good catchy name as well to be popular and a very good user system. It would effectively be a social networking site for design folk.

What you're saying sort of sounds like CommandShift3 or FaveUp.
