August 20, 201114 yr I remember reading a while back about government grants for small businesses that needed websites, anyone know what happened to that? Be handy in securing work if I was able to tell folk they'd have to pay only 15-20% of the cost.

August 23, 201114 yr A few years ago there were many grants in place to IT and Web, but like a lot of the grants available, they were often abused and of course they dry up. One thing to consider is that there are an abundance of grants available for registered charities, and from a wide range of sources. I'm working with a small charity, we've just completed their web site, now I'm working on several other web based projects, all of which have been paid for by the National Lottery Awards For All. I've approached several other groups to offer services AND point them in the direction of various grants and funding, even to the point of assisting them with their grant application.

Cool, it's defo worth doing. If you can tell customers of a way to fund their project, there's a near certainly you will get the work.

August 23, 201114 yr The Awards For All (http://www.awardsforall.org.uk/) scheme varies between Scotland and England so it's worth reading up on. It's not only for registered charities, but other voluntary groups etc. It doesn't have to be a web site, it could be a web app or directory, or a micro site or a specific project site. The group we work with create dedicated sites for each project as well as several specific fundraising sites. Basically use your imagination!!
