we need to create an image map with poly areas.

on rollover on those areas the 'total' image should change

into 'image_02' but the links should be only connected to

the specific map area.

I believe, but I may be wrong, that Adobe Fireworks has this capability built in. As does Dreamweaver if you're going that way:
