July 27, 201115 yr Is wordpress able to be used to build a standard brochure type website? basically can it be used as a cms where the client can change things around on the site using wordpress i.e. header pic, menu system, content. BUT have absolutly no blog like look about it. If building a site using wordpress must there be some kind of blog in there somewhere or can I just use it for the management of the websites contents. If not, which cms would be best to use?
July 27, 201115 yr Yes, you could. Whether you would want to though is a whole other ballgame. Wordpress is a very powerful platform. It can do a whole lot more than many people think it can. However, ultimately it is still a platform about dynamic content in a static design and something like this is going to be messy. Two ways come to mind of achieving this. The best way (Unless there is a plugin or method I don't know of) is a main page of many loops displaying full content from different categories. You could have a header loop. This would show the latest post, in full, from the header category. Then when the client wishes to change the content of the header they publish a new post in the header category. Repeat for wherever you want the client to change content. The second is widgets. Same basic idea as above except the client would use the widget system to add/change content. The first method allows them to update from their computer using Windows Live Writer or such. The trouble is they have to be consistant with their content or you might end up with a 20 paragraph header etc.

July 27, 201115 yr It's a lovely little CMS with a great pedigree (it's a fork of Frog, which was a port of Radiant).
