Site About Dogs

Not too sure about the bright green, it doesn't seem to go with the rest of the colours.

I like the browns though.

The header is possibly a bit too large and I'm not too keen on the top nav on the left of the header.

Might be better to make it a horizontal nav either at the top of the header or sat above the green nav bar.

You also need to specify a doctype.

I hope that helps. :)

Hey Sunny,

I liked the site..

For the top navigation hover if you coulkd change the whole background color of the links, I think would look better

The Checkmark icons on the left panel titles are bit bigger in size.

I don't like the text getting underlined while hovering the horizontal navigation.

I think the header is too big - it takes up almost half of the screen leaving precious little for your content, the bit your visitors are wanting to see.

Also not too sure about having the main navigation to the left of that image - it could work with a different image, but that one looks like it should go on the edge of the page.

I also thing the tick (check) icons are much too big - and possibly the wrong icon for the job? Something to do with dogs instead? A paw print? A bone?

I think the content area is nice and works well though.

Doesn't say "dogs" to me. Apart from the big pic of one at the top, I mean. The whole glossy look seems completely arbitrary. Is this from a template?

Very nice photo and a nice layout.

However the green and glossiness do seem a little bit *random*.

Also, I haven't checked but it does seem like there is not enough contrast between the text colour and the background colour for your main text.

I agree. It's got potential - but maybe it would be better to use a lighter banner of maybe dogs playing or being trained in a sunny outdoor environment to lighten the design. The emerald green doesn't sit quite right.

Try a colour schemer tool off the internet. Choose the Hex code for your primary colour or background colour, enter it and throw up the complimentary colours. That way you can change your nav bar to something more suited. I use:

Take care.

Thanks a lot for your suggestion, they are really helpful! You see, I am just learning and have still a lot to do :)

notbanksy makes a good point re. placement of the dog image.

as a general thumb if it's a person or animal looking to right of the sceen then plce to the left, it they are looking to the left of the screen then place right. same thing with other photos where the image leads to one side or the other.
