How to create a website within FACEBOOK

Featured Replies

hi,

I am new to web programming / designing. But the real problem is that I want to create something new for my self. Take for example the link I am providing to you is -: " http://www.facebook.com/cocacola ".

I dont have any idea how they did it. I have made research while I wanted to make something like that but in vain. I DO NOT want to use the WORDPRESS in order to create the same by taking the facebook tab manager plugin which needs to be installed in order to create the same. My friend already owns a website and he just wants the same to be uploaded in facebook page also as the landing page as well, just like the coca cola. when you type in the name coca cola in search box the name pops up automatically. I even tried to make new app in facebook but the same also gives me pain, as it wants 5 users or 10 monthly users to be active in order to submit the same to the app directoty.I have no idea what to and how to do the same.

If anybody could be kind enough to guide me stepwise procedure on how to create the same then i would very thankful to you all.

waiting for urgent help on the above.

You need to sign up to the developer programme over on Facebook. Then you need to create a Facebook App that is the page.

You then need to create the HTML/CSS page on your server and link it to the app.

It's quite a long way of doing something but that's the way Facebook want it done.

It's fairly easy, I've done it http://www.facebook.com/ver2vodka

You just create a special page on your hosting, and you modify the styles, much like you do for mobiles. You then just customise the content etc, and when you create your app, you can then set it at your "Tab URL". You can then add this to existing Apps.

May I add, you don't need to add it to the app directory. You just add it to your relevant page.

thanks a lot brightonmike, that's very gud directed, for me to start atleast. the link which u have given stands awesome........ :)

but just want to add one prob :blush1: sorry for that again, actually, what i did and how i started was loging to my own facebook a/c which is for my friends viewing and from there i went to the developer section,

set up new app -> added the website url on the WEBSITE tab on left -> added Domain name for the site -> went to facebook integration -> gave canvas page direction as:http://apps.facebook.com/myapps/ and set the canvas URL to the site's URL -> Iframe size 'show scrollbars'(and not auto-resize as half of the page is getting wiped out and my friend is adament of not changing the website settings and hence wants the scrollbars to be viewable) -> Discovery-enabled and that's it.

Now the problem i am facing is that you had mentioned that there is no requirement to add it to the app directory.

1.Then How will I bring that in front of the people just like your site in facebook. type http://www.facebook.com/ver2vodka and vola!!!!! the site is there and that is where i am getting problem cause i am not able to bring it so.How will i add it to the "relevent page"....cause i am logged in to my own FB a/c, do I need to create a different a/c to set up the same?????

2. In the Tab URL, am i required to enter the URL of my site only from where facebook pulls out info or do i need to mention sumthng like "http://www.facebook.com/ver2vodka".

3. How to create a landing page like urs "http://www.facebook.com/ver2vodka", that is when the URL is entered just like u had given.....and not landing on the WALL section or INFO section.....

Sir, could you be kind enough to help me with this problem mentioned above and guide me where i am going wrong here!!!!!!!!!!!!

1. To make your tab page the default landing page, you go to your PAGE settings (not the apps') and there is an option to set the default landing tab under Manage Permissions. However, for anyone that has already liked your page the default landing tab is the wall, and you cannot change this. You can only change it for people who have not liked your page.

2. The Tab URL is the URL of the page that you want to load in your tab. For example, my tab URL is: http://ver2vodka.com/vg/?page_id=266

3. As I say for point one, your Tab page will only be the landing page for people who have not liked your page. As soon as they "Like" your page, your wall becomes the landing page. So when I go on my page, I don't see my tab first.

Try that out and let me know if that solves your problems!

To answer all of the above - you need people to like your page :)
