Do you think I should include my portfolio page in my CV? The reason I ask is that on my portfolio page I call myself a freelance web designer, and I wonder if it's likely to put them off, or make them think I'll be more committed to freelancing than to the job in question. On the other hand, it shows initiative, and I'm quite pleased with the site design... Any thoughts Thank you
March 31, 200818 yr Don't be afraid to tell them you are a freelancer, as you've already proven to them that you care about other things just by applying for the job. If they get all uppity about it, then they aren't a very professional set-up - It doesn't matter what you do outside of work.

Now, if they saw your site and said "a condition of working for us is you have to give up freelancing" then that's different, but at this stage any chance you have to give them the wow factor is good, so if you are proud of it - display it. Otherwise you wouldn't put down your current employment in Tescos while applying for a job in Sainsburys (or whatever). You're a freelancer, and they will want to see examples of your work, simple as that. At this stage, it's immaterial. Good luck mate
March 31, 200818 yr I think you need to provide examples of your work, and your portfolio is exactly for this purpose. There shouldn't be a problem with you being a freelancer, as long as it doesn't interfere with your work. But on the other hand it's your CV and you should do what you feel comfortable with.
April 4, 200818 yr Author So... after much faffing, rewriting, farting about with my CV, covering letter, portfolio etc I have actually got up off my @rse and applied for the damn job!!! Hope I didn't miss the deadline... Wish me luck peeps!
April 4, 200818 yr The way I see it - You are currently a self-employed freelance web developer, looking to go into full-time employment. Ain't nothing wrong in that. Many people are currently employed whilst looking for work.
