Hostgator and connection to Control Panel

Featured Replies

I have an account with Hostgator.com and for some bizarre reason, i cannot ever seem to connect properly to my Control Panel (via my browser) when I'm at the office!

It either just hangs and says server not found, or it sort of half connects and loads only the first portion of the cp.

At home it works fine!

Admittedly the broadband is a little slower here at work, but every other site works if a little bit slower than at home.

Anyone else experienced this with HG or any other site? Seems strange.

cPanel runs on ports 2082 and 2083 for HTTPS. You may want to check if these ports are open on the network in your office as having these blocked will cause a lot of problems. Alternatively (whilst it isn't HTTPS) you may want to try http://cpanel.yourdomain.com as that will load cPanel via standard ports - if it does, you can safely narrow it down to a problem with ports being blocked or shaped happy.gif.

Spot on!

Yes it's a network / ports issue, tried cpanel.domain.com and it works fine.

Thanks
