January 10, 200719 yr Hey I was wondering are Hypenated domain names viewed by Search engines as less value then say a domain without? For example would, www.my-website.com not be as beneficial to search engines than www.mywebsite.com? I was thinking if there isn't a problem with this then it would open up the gates to allow people to grab domain names that suit their business and have better potential within Search Engines. Can anyone Assist please? DK
January 14, 200719 yr Hi DK, Having a Hyphen in your domain does not effect your Search Engine Position - It does though effect your branding, a domain without a hyphen is perhaps more memorable and easier to type than one with. Using hyphens gives you a better chance in buying a domain that has good keywords within it - as alot of hyphenless domains have been brought already. So feel free to buy a domain with hyphens in as it won't effect you much at all.
