I set up a website with some email addresses, one of the email addresses is generic so I want it to go to two different peoples accounts. The problem is, only the first person to receive the email gets it. Both are using Outlook. Is this a setting with Outlook or with my host? It might not even be possible to have it working on dual accounts?

 

Any help much appreciated.

I'm guessing one or both of the users have the email account setup in their Outlook as POP3. Try changing it to IMAP. That way the email is stored on the server for both users to view. With POP3, the first user to connect to the server will download the received email, removing it from the server, preventing the other user from seeing it.

Yeah they are both set up with POP3, when switching over to IMAP do the incoming and outgoing servers stay the same? As it's now changed from incoming mail server (POP3) to incoming mail server (IMAP)

 

Also would you leave the incoming mail server as default?

I would try this myself but it's a bit late to be phoning the client so if you can confirm if that's it I can let them know first thing.

You will have to use : IMAP port as : Incoming server 143

 

reset will stay the same.

Or in the options in outlook you could just change it to "Keep copy of mail on the server"
