Hello guys i am new at Forum.... I want ask some help... I want make a dynamic website like.. E-shop... i want some info like:

1) what programms i must use

2) How i can make the programm have Administrator panel so i can control my site from there(add remove items)

 

and any basic info that i need to start make this website...

Hi there if you are wanting an e-shop there is two ways to do it.

 

Use PHP and program it yourself, or use one of the carts on the market such as PrestaShop, Zencart, OpenCart, wordress with e-commerce plugin. These are all free. The best paid solution I can think of is Xcart.

 

The choice is up to you but definitely check out this software see what fits your needs.

Gotta agree with Joe above.

Best off using PHP + MySQL combination. However as you're having to ask these questions in the first place then i'd say find a pre-made package.

Mike correct me if im wrong, but would a cart like ZenCart or OpenCart not be an easier option than Magento, for someone who hasn't used this before. I've not used Magento but is it not quite heavy? I might be totally wrong here lol.

 

I know I used ZenCart until I was confident with editing PHP HTML templates. I think Zen is good for a beginner.

Totally agree that technically the learning curve for OpenCart is way mellower than for Magento, however the support at Magento is top notch and friendly with a good community. I can't say the same for OpenCart where i occasionally find the developers to be abrupt and rude and support can be a long time coming.

Also with OpenCart, a lot of the CSS is hard coded in to the core files, making styling an annoyance.

 

But you are quite right that OpenCart is an easier solution.

I haven't tried Zen Cart myself, any good?

Yeah mike it is good for a beginner designer but i was making a shop for my mate and gave up because the functionality just wasn't there, I was customizing code all over the place. I prefer cart software over creating myself as the amount of security required. PLus there is a lot of carts out there that can do most things. im thinking of getting up to speed with magento or learning x-cart properly.

Yeah pretty much what i said somewhere on this forum earlier.

I would never go down the route of creating my own eCart script as i just wouldn't know where to start with the security! Better of leaving it to a top notch team of developers who have the time (and drive) to continually support the script.

 

I've got to start a new eCart for a client tomorrow and it's really a toss up between OpenCart and Magento.

Yeh man they use Smarty templates so its near enough just HTML/CSS.

Ah nice nice. I'll have to look into that for a future project.

I've already quoted the price for this job using open source software so for now it'll be OpenCart or Magento.

Mike is MAgento free? on there site i got confused lol, what is it like for theming and custom templates.? does it have any support for importing XML feeds?

I'm sure there is a free version. I can't really elaborate on it much as i haven't actually developed with it yet.
