March 19, 201115 yr Roosters "Why..." thread reminded me about this. Googlefonts. 1 : Good idea? Or naff? 2 : I quite like Cantarell for certain situations. But has anyone else noticed especially in IE that it kind of displays it strange sometimes, like cutting the bottom pixel or two off the letters? Also some sizes seem to display better than others. Also is it just me or does it display better when using px sizes not pt sizes? I can't quite get a handle on this or spot any particular consistent pattern to it - has anyone else noticed it, and can give me some pointers?
March 21, 201115 yr Bump I have noticed this, more so on headings. Even in it's Chromish counterparts, probably couldn't re-emulate off the bat but will keep an eye out before. In IE you know anything good for the web there will be problems with it. In the times bottom letters being clipped etc, i've added additional padding values here.
March 22, 201115 yr I've been using @font-face which used to be just an IE feature but is now supported as CSS3 in Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Opera and I haven't had problems with font display, Useful tutorial here http://www.miltonbayer.com/font-face/ and fonts here:- http://www.fontsquirrel.com/fontface but of course you may not find the font you want.
March 23, 201115 yr but of course you may not find the font you want. There is a feature available on FontSquirrel where you can create a @font-face pack from any font you want. Simply upload the font from your PC, once it's processed you download a compressed file with the font files, CSS and HTML code for it. They provide the feature in good faith that people won't abuse font copyrights and usage rights, so let's hope enough people use it wisely so we don't all lose out on this.
