March 19, 201115 yr Hi All Can you let me know what you think of my site; berkshireparanormalinvestigations.org.uk There is 1 page I need to change to the new layout but that will take a while. Pat has been very kind in helping witht he template design and has also been helping with the many questions I have asked him. I'd like to say a big thanks to the forum members too, for helping me with my questions. Should the grey font color be lighter? Is there anything else I could add/edit etc? Ta
March 20, 201115 yr To be honest, I think you need to adjust the sites colour scheme. The black is to dominating, maybe if you used white as the content BG, and a light gray for the Body BG. Maybe a Drop shadow. Then I think the sites content would benefit.
March 20, 201115 yr I'll start with the positive: It loads quick It certainly gives you that spooky feeling Bad points: I don't really know what to do on the site, I don't really know what it's about straight away It needs to be a bit more interactive Try sticking to just two colours, 3 at most because currently you have around 5 different colours that I can see You need a better logo - something that represents you as a business/company etc. I don't think you should have the Twitter, Facebook, 'Top 100' etc. on the homepage as that is the only thing that appeals and it will draw people away from your website. March 22, 201115 yr I like the dark theme but it's too dominating that I couldn't even read the hyperlinks. It would be good as well to use another font for the text.
March 22, 201115 yr Author Thank you for the feed back. The black background will stay, as for the font, I am playing about with some ideas, as a few people have mentioned it maybe better in a diff font x
March 31, 201115 yr you could leave the black background, and add some colour/background image to the menu. maybe even incorporate the image into the header too, as the header image is a bit off imo. the font is dull and hard to read, and the image is skewed. i think in any kind of design, a skewed image, is a big no-no.. content-wise, i like it. although there are some inconsistencies with the styling. some sans-serif mixed with serif, some links a different colour, and some text is justified to the left, and some to the centre.
March 31, 201115 yr yes, the graphics could do with some work and you're right about the font needing to be lighter. Proof read. Some that I found from a quick scan of the first page. it's should be its Skeptism should have no capital S and be skepticism legal legislation - you don't need 'legal'. And you don't really need the commas after legislation and visitors.
March 31, 201115 yr I think that the images need to lose the borders. Some of the images are lacking quality, for instance the main bottom one but I think this has been mentioned previously. There is a good base here to work from though
April 6, 201115 yr Hi, I'm new here, but I hope you'll still welcome my opinion. I'm also new to web design so my comments will be on your graphics. Just two things: 1.) I know this is not really part of the design or what you asked to review, but I think the URL is too long and hard to remember. So I think that would be a branding issue or something. It may be hard to recall. Or should you decide to print it on business cards etc... that may be a problem. 2.) Maybe try a different font on the header (no drop shadows). And if that's the logo, maybe make it more interesting and professional-looking. Content is really interesting! (-:
