Hi Guys,

 

I recently designed a website for a company in The Netherlands whose website is written in Dutch only, no English.

 

I need to do some basic SEO just to get the ball rolling, I have done it for UK-based websites before, but I am wondering how to get going for a foreign language site?

 

All the keyword analysers that I know of tell me "en" is the most frequent keyword... it means "and"...

I do have a working understanding of Dutch so am capable of working with the language just about.

 

Is there anyone here from Holland/Belgium that does SEO? Or anyone who knows of a good tool worth buying?

 

We are working on t'other side of it getting some good links to the site etc as well.

Hello Eris,

 

You just need to make sure that you target right set of keywords in dutch. You can find these keywords by logging into Google keyword select tool.

 

Moreover, you should make sure that there are no grammatical errors in spanish keywords you optimize. It is best to ask company for some sample keywords, and once you get them you can search google keyword search tool.

 

This will help you to ensure that DUTCH keyword are 100% grammatically correct and are related to this website.

This is probably stupid. But if you're struggling have you asked the site owners for more help? Maybe you could persuade them to do an English version of the site (more work for you?)

 

Trying to help but useless really.

 

This might help... don't look to Belgium as they speak French (and yes I know Flemish too - I used to live in Oostende) maybe you've got more chances of a German SEO tool as Dutch is very similar (apologies to any Dutch folks here - I used to live in Lisse near Noordwijkerhout too).

 

And 'en' is mostly 'in' in Spanish... but now's probably not the time.

 

Lol, you're the second person to mention spanish in this thread which is entirely to do with Dutch lol

 

Yeah, I can ask the people for more help, but I don't think they will be able to find me the tools. They know that there's a lot of work involved for them if they want it fully SEO'd but I'm just looking for some basic tools so I can do the basics and the rest will follow eventually.

 

It's just frustrating. I need to get ALT tags sorted for the images first really

No, but I guess that is as good as an approach as any!
