You create a stylesheet in your text-editor doing so, you open a new file save it and give it a name (style is a common one) save it as style.css, open the file and put in the content in the style content:

body
  {
  font-family:arial;
  }
A:link{color:white}
A:visited{color:yellow}

save it and your done, now all you need to do is tell the HTML document that it has to get the stylesheet and use it for your html page. Go back to your HTML page and put this inside the <head> </head> tags

<link href="style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

If the style is located in a subfolder you can get it like this:

<link href="/stylesheets/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

If the style is located in a directory a level below your html page you can do this:

<link href=".../html/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

Hope this helps! ^_^
