First ever day of S.E.O

Featured Replies

This is my first day of S.E.O , i've done lots of reading up etc !?!!? but still a bit nervous..

I want to start on the right foot

i've bought a .com

i'm going to sign into googles webmaster tools and tell the system i'm using the tld in the U.K

I'm using u.k domain space , my tld registra is godaddy.com , Latest wordpress install.

But i'm wondering 2 basic questions........

which is better

www.mydomain.co.uk

or

mydomain.co.uk ?

if i type in either they both resolve to :- mydomain.co.uk

is this the best way or should i change a setting to set it to www.mydomain.co.uk ?

this is a completely new site , so nothing has yet been indexed.

and

Will using Godaddy as the registra with U.K webspace casue me any S.E.O issues ? i presume as long as i'm using U.K webspace and google

webmaster tools knows the Domain name is been used in the U.K , all is good ?

Thank you , what if i use the none www. version......but i get a backlink to e.g "www.mysite.co.uk" would that backlink not count for me ? or would it still give me a correct back link ?

i've just set up google analytics , i've pasted in the code (using a wordpress theme) i'm going to use Yoast for my SEO .

The site is a business site , will google understand my site is not just a blog , but a full business site ?

Thanks

Paul.

Thank you for your replys , i shall set up on wordpress the 301 directs , i imagine its easy enough to do .

Yes thats the same Yoast ,do you know of a good setup guide for Yoast, for some reason its seems very limited on the documentation on the site....i kinda expected to of been able to download a decent readme.txt file at least with the pluggin.

DAFT question.......... my webspace is in the u.k , google know the .com name i'm using is intended for the u.k search engines through webmaster tools.

BUT , my TLD is from godaddy.com , due to the cost etc , will this affect my S.E.O ??? should i perhaps transfer the domain name to 123reg.co.uk or will it make no difference at all ??? i guess i'm splitting hairs on this point , but kinda thought it worth asking.
