January 10, 201115 yr Hello everyone. I am looking for some advice. I have been designing and developing small Wordpress sites for about a year now, and I now have the opportunity to work on an exciting, larger project. Basically, my client wants a site which will allow two types of (paying) customer to log in and then connect with each other. One will be selling services, and will need a profile to show these, and the other will be a customer who will also need some kind of profile to describe their requirements. My questions are: 1. I am thinking about making my first foray into Buddypress for this. Would this sound about right for my requirements outlined above? 2. As this is my first Buddypress site, I am unsure how much to charge for the project. Both for the design and build, and the support agreement afterwards (I will be expected to support the site and organise hosting). Remember - my client will be monetizing the site with user subscription fees. Thanks in advance for all your help and advice. All mucho appreciated! Neil
January 24, 201115 yr Roughly 3x what you'd charge for a Wordpress project would be a good start. There aren't a lot of themes to give you a starting point, and Buddypress' default theme is a nightmare to modify. See if you can take a look at one running somewhere and see. It's a mess of negative margins and spaghetti code, puts me off my lunch.
