Alright so I am currently reviewing the design of my personal website. This one will make use of the Tumblr API to return my latest entries.

 

Overall I’m not fully sure about the background color but it seems to be quite neutral depending on the several screen calibrations. A problem which i think is totally ignored in the professional web design community

 

My main influences for this one was Sushimonstr.com and Carsonified.com

Overall I am really liking it. You do have numerous typographical errors and issues though.

 

The font you have in your resume is really hard to read in large groups.

 

The type in your lifestream needs more leading, it is much too tight right now. I think a line-height of 17 would look good.

 

The serif headers in your resume are really out of place and just look wrong. Perhaps that is what is making it so hard to read your resume.

 

Why at the bottom of your page do you have 350px of margin? This is way overkill.

I like the page design, perhaps work more on your photo as it looks blurry. I think your background color looks fine (my screen is color calibrated). I would also maybe put your check marks in your resume as green or light grey as they make your resume looks busy.

Sorry does nothing for me

• the font is off putting
  
• the portrait isn't very flattering, it's a bit off putting
  
• your menu system is broken (see attached pic) [only viewed in FF]
  

 

On the plus side I do like scroll/jump down the page

I looked at it in FF and it wasn't broken for me (unless he fixed it between then and now) See attached pic.. Was using Chrome before.

@ nero : i did see the problem with FF3.6. I tested it on FF 4 beta and corrected the erro by redoing the header

 

 

@cibgraphics : I'm gonna change the font of the resume i just wanted to test it out.

i do know there are some errors in the W3C validator, again it's a work in progress i did not check the validator at all.

 

As for the photo well...I wanted something that looked more like an icon but not a real photo. I'll see what i can do here.

If you want it more like an icon, then take it into Illustrator. Photoshop really won't do a good job of that unless you really know what you are doing. It will make it looks like a pixel mess (see your webpage). But honestly... why not just put some of your best work there instead?

Spot on there cibgraphics - if you can code properly then you shouldn't have to worry about validation. As what was said on that link i gave you ... "Validation is a helpful tool that allows us to pinpoint missed closed tags, extra semicolons, etc. That said, the final score is, in fact, irrelevant."

 

It just seems some people waste hours trying to get their site 100% valid and should really start thinking a little differently? Then, i suppose after a while and with experience you get to know what's valid and what isn't and you can code your sites accordingly.

 

But the site is looking very good guillaumeb and is nice and easy to navigate.
