  1. i like the layout and only have few remarks : - The "All our bathroom include" div needs to be aligned - The over use of gradient (grey gradient) and shadow make the site look quite old to me. This may be personal though -The title overlapping the logo makes it a bit difficult to read -there seem to be too many different fonts
  2.    AntonioGiansante reacted to a post in a topic: How to spice up my header ?
  3. Thanks again for your replies Following your advice I placed my logo on the left I like Weedy's idea and tried few alternatives. I'm not so sure though for the text does not align on the right Is one of those more readable ?
  4. hello, thanks again for you replies. I tried several things those past few days like going for something all white with the same layout but I always come back to this greyscale design despite its slightly "boxy" look. Also I defaulted to a shorter About page for the homepage. i'm currently wondering about adding a graphic element, either : - placing a logo on the left and right-aligning my name or - blending a logo within my name, all centered. But that would kill the h1 tag Will take me some times though, i'm really not a graphic illustrator Also, if I previously did not place my logo on all pages it's because I feel weird using a logo for my own name... I feel it look pompous in some way
  5. Thanks for your replies, I do appreciate @Jane B : sorry for the typos. yeh by Cursus i meant "courses" what do you suggest for the clicking icon revealing photos and information at the top right of each page ? The idea was to make it subtle just not plain obvious @ Mantis: yeh i'm really far from being done with that project. now I'm wondering where you read "Updates" I'm actually submitting >>> http://guillaumeb.com/prototype/ The term "Update" is used here http://guillaumeb.com/
  6. Hello, I'm currently working on a new design for my personal website. >>> http://guillaumeb.com/prototype/ I'm not finished at all but I need to get some feedbacks though for I'm going to something i'm not too familiar with : constrasting colors. Overall I want something rather simple, even minimalist, but I'm thinking I could also end up with something a bit colorful. What do you think ? Is the website readable enough for you ? FYI I'm coming from this grey scale design : http://guillaumeb.com/
  7. Thanks for your replies, I do appreciate @Sash : It's a nice idea. When coding the website i purposely went with grey tones after being tired to observed so many different in color shade on different screen calibration. However subtle touches of colors like this seems like a good idea. I like the ribbon approach @DanielWLand : it's not the first time I'm told the landing page is useless. I guess you're right. i have to get rid of it and default to the About page. Thanks again
  8. Hello, I find my website a bit dull. When coding it, I mainly focused on its responsive layout and did want to keep a minimalist approach. Yet, i feel something may be missing, maybe in the header part of each pages. Not sure What do you think? =>http://guillaumeb.com Thanks
  9. Hi all, I bought 2 domain names streamlog.net poprock.co I have been using streamlog.net for quite a long time but SEO left aside I was wondering which of those two you find more appealing. I should add that this is for a small personal Tumblr, so nothing really "important" in terms of meaning. Is the .co more confusing ? Does the first one even mean something ? Which would you go with ? Thank you very much.
  10. Hello I have been reading lots of articles lately about skeuomorphism, why people like it and why other hate is. I have a dilemna. I have a personal website which some might consider as being skeuomorphic. I spent lots of time on it and thoughout what I read I get the feeling it could be perceived as outdated. http://guillaumeb.com On the other hand i like minimalism (i'm a Windows Phone user) and so I came up with a new design: http://guillaumeb.com/beta/a/ But then are there way too many graphics in the first (current) version of my personal website ? Is that a problem ? After all, it is a relatively small and readable website so should I care ? I guess my problem is that I like both designs but I need some external point of view. Would you be likely to tell me what you think Thank you very much
  11. OK thinks it does the trick
  12. Thanks for you reply. I added that line but it does not seem to be working
  13. Hello, I'm doing a small linkblog for myself and i'm encountering a weird behavior. I based the blog on Tumblr. It will mainly be used to bookmark links and annotate them. There are two stylesheets and a small JS to switch between the two. By default, notes are hidden, clicking on "Expanded" will reveal them. > See it in action here Now it works as it should on webkit-based browser (ie Chrome, Safari, PlayBook). Yet in Firefox and Opera, switching the CSS to reveal the notes create a small hiccup to the left and I don't know why. I checked the code, the div width and all but I can't seem to find where this comes from. Do you have any ideas ? Thank you
  14. thanks for coming back to me I do appreciate Iniially I was looking from something rather small and simple. At first I concentrated on a floating left sidebar which is 300px wide with the main content 550px. This gives us a total width of 850px. I thought this would be pretty standard and fit for many people. I could have made the main area fluid indeed but again I was looking for something small. I dunno, on my 13' MBP the font is not that small
  15. OK thanks for your replies i do appreciate. i see what you mean with the logo, i'll try other options. BTW do you guys know a good way to have a floating div on the bottom-right but with smooth transitions to have a floating search engine. I tried this one : http://www.dynamicdrive.com/dynamicindex17/floatbar.htm but I have jerky results and nothing smooth
  16. hey I'm currently working on a new minimalist/retro design for my small Tumblr lifestream. It's still a work in progress though Streamlog.net BTW are there any safe color that would more or like display alike in any monitor calibration. My website, made on a Mac, is supposed to be beige but it can turn grey in one Dell screen... Anyway thank you very much
