Comments on portfolio redesign please!

Featured Replies

Spent a couple of hours working on a redesign of my current portfolio site. It is still relatively early days into the redesign and is by no means perfect, but any comments on it thus far would be greatly appreciated :good:

Thanks in advance,

Kyle

Hello, Kyle.

Not bad. I think it would be better to make all that green arrow in "hand-drawn like", curved style instead of set of direct angles and straight lines.

Thanks for the input, mate. Yeah I do agree with you, now I've had a sleep and gone back to it it would fit into the rest of the design if it wasn't so angular. As I said still early days so lots of work still to do to it :)

The thumbnail made me smile :)

I'm glad to have made you smile, as it is the season to be jolly, but I don't get why? :p

Still experimenting with the logo, whats there is a stop gap, but I can't agree with you that it looks that awful lol

Although I do agree it looks more - amateurish I guess - compared to the usage of the same font elsewhere on the page... must just be the letters making up my name lol

Not a fan of the hand written type, the green font is not very ledgible against the grey background in my opinion.

Nice layout though!

personally i think it looks orite, atleast you got the same housestyle even if it isent the prettyest font!

Totally agree with Alzer81 concerning the typeface.

The font is really horrid. The colors are also drab. The layout is also about as boring and generic as it can get. It would be wise to learn proper typography techniques such as hanging quotes, leading, kerning and such.

Cool, thanks for the input guys!

As I said, only a few hours into it, so theres a lot of work to be done. Already looking at it today with a fresh head I can see a lot of changes to be made.

I'll take everything on board!

trust me on this one. change the font. it looks really awful, plus it veyr hard to read. why would you want potential clients to see a 5 year olds handwritting on ur site? it doesnt make sense at all...

I really didn't think it looked that bad lol, but the reason I posted here for a review is for other opinions so its duly noted thanks, mate. I've done a few hours additional work to it over the last 2 days and just looking at the design the following day with a fresh set of eyes allowed me to see maybe the font choice wasn't the best :good:

I'll post up a new version in the next day or two, hopefully improved :p

Thanks for the input again though people!
