This forum helped me always. So I came back in a hope of help.

 

I installed wordpress on my website www.cyberexcel.com/blog and I got the default wordpress blog. But, now I am willing to change the template. So, I uploaded all the template files in (/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes) but when I am activating the theme from wordpress.com it is only giving the name of that third party theme, nothing else... everything else is blank.

 

What I am doing wrong? Is there anything that I am missing??

If you go into the Dashboard and look at Appearance/Themes, there is a block which shows the Current Theme and below it Available Themes

 

If you have successfully loaded the new theme, you should see it under the Available Themes.

There should be an option to ... Activate | Preview | Delete

 

Your new theme should have been uploaded to (/public_html/blog/wp-content/themes/newtheme) where newtheme = the name of your theme

Dont delete the default theme until you are sure you have other themes available, what theme are you trying to activate

Activating the new theme, deactivates the old theme

 

You can have numerous themes on your server, but they must be in their own folders
