Finally got around to designing myself a website. It's very early days, but wouldn't mind some feedback on initial style, I need to sort out where the images are going to go, and really figure out what I need on there content wise!

Great typography, really strong, nice colours!

No offence, but it looks like an advert for Apple. Who is the site aimed at? I presume it's your customers. Do they want to see pictures of a mac, and an iphone? Probably not. I think you'd make far better use of the space to show examples of your work.

Nice type and colours though - I did also notice the twitter bird at the bottom is a different colour to the other icons.

I agree with this, maybe even use your own made screen images? or different devices?

I pretty much agree with whats been said above.

 

Really nice colours and typography, but just too much apple product placement in there! There seems to be a real trend at the moment for placing images of websites inside images of apple macs and iphones, I'd be worried that your site will just end up looking like one of the many currently out there.

 

Tone down the apple based images a bit and you'll have a strong looking site there

Thanks, I know where your coming from. It doesn't help I haven't got the right content on them and have a duplicate at the minute

 

I'll update this once I've updated it some more tonight. Think I'm going to replace the bird with the new twitter bird too!

I like your type and the look and feel of the site.

 

I agree with the previous comments, use more generic screens, and get your work into those examples. In addition, have a look at your text and refine what you're saying, and check your grammar "a designer than understands" you mean that understands.

 

The icons are a little less considered than your type, they look a little clunky and inconsistent in style and the colour of your tweet bird.

I don't know about the blue "creative" behind the "full circle" though, pretty difficult to read and looks a bit like a smudge

I think you've got four identities/names going on at the moment; "Palmer", "creative full circle", the circle design with "creative design & marketing" and strapline, then there is the copyright with "Palmer creative".

 

I still think you should replace the obvious Apple products, at least remove the Apple logo!

 

And some of the reds look inconsistent.

Not sure what you mean about the branding..

I don't think whether people like it is so important. More important is that it's not a decent way to showcase work. Firstly because the shiny imac detracts from the image it's framing, and secondly because if anyone from apple sees your site, you'd be quite likely to receive a letter asking you to stop using their logo. I don't think trying to align your work with the apple brand is going to do you any favours in the long term. If your work is good enough, it will stand up by itself.

Thanks for this guys. I'm going to tone this down a bit, I'm removing the iPhone and removing the apple logo. I'll post updated version soon, I'm working on the html atm.
