Is it possible to load random images in a page using only HTML or CSS codes?

I wanted to ask if it's possible to make a page load a random image from a list of images without using Javascript or PHP.

 

Basically I want to do this using only HTML or CSS. Is that possible?

Using CSS3 and HTML5, yes. However, this won't work on a good number of browsers.

Javascript would be your most simple option, closely followed by some very basic PHP.
