(Yap, 'tis free) It's also... Rather powerful. If you want to see -exactly- what I mean google this phrase 'Gimp Gallery', you will be impressed with what this program can do. It's a little tricky, but so is photoshop, and considering the difference in expenditure... I am rather satisfied with my beautiful graphics program. Granted, it does lack a few things. It is image editing software so it lacks free-hand drawing functions like: Straight lines, boxes circles. There are ways to get around it, but like i said, tricky. So... A few things that may help you with Web Graphics! Download lé Gimp at créme de la website below: http://www.gimp.org/downloads/ Downloaded the latest version! And here we go... I will complete the rest of this post in steps. Each new step will be defined by '>>' an attribute or add-on to an original step will be signified with an asterix (or footnote smybol in this case) ' * ' . >> Open the Gimp! *Opening the Gimp is crucial to making this work... >> Make a new file *Just keep the default page size for now >>Before you click 'OK' look below, you will see an option called 'Advanced Settings' Click it. *Here you can change the x & y resolution, surprisingly handy *You can choose your Colour Space from these two options: RGB colour or Greyscale *Then it says 'Fill with:' The following options are...Background Colour, Foregroung Colour, White and Transparent. You decide which one you want for now. >>I chose Foreground colour, mine has turned out to be filled with black. *To change the colour Look below all your tools which should be on the left, and you will see two boxes overlapping each other. click them and it should come up with a huge list of colours and for our lovely web-developing selves, it offers the option of using the hexidecimal value or RGB value to assign colours. *This also means you can choose colour schemes with the gimp use the hexidecimal it provides or RGB in your website CSS. >>Now use the Square Highlight tool. It should be in the top left. Then make a random block... Doesn't matter about size, this is just a demonstration. *Now, do this 'Select >> Roudned Rectangle >> Go with Default settings >> Copy the section that has been rounded' *Make a new file with a different background colour *Or transparent... is probably better* and paste the square! Voíla! You can have almost endless fun with that. >> There is also a huge variety of Filters and effects. Too many for me to mention, just open an image and play around! Not quite sure what your point is though... o.o Congratulations on spotting it though +1! Not going to amend it though, google still loves "the Gimp" and takes you right there.
