I have an existing website selling a product that has not been successful, I have built a new website selling a service using the same domain name. If I just delete the existing site and upload the new one would I encounter any problems, and can I use the same tracker code for analytics from the previous site or do I have to install a new one?

Have you changed the url's of the site at all? Search engines might have indexed your old pages. If the url's have changed you might want to setup redirects to point to the new pages. You can use the old analytics code. I'd just create a new sitemap and submit it to google webmaster tools HTH

Thanks for your reply, yes the urls have changed and as it is a totally different site with a totally different product, the search terms used for the old site would now be irelevent. Is a redirect still appropriate?

I think a re-direct is pointless for a site that sells a completely different product or service, aftre all your new customers won't be interested anyway..
